The works of Dancers Dancing contain the lyricism and line of ballet, the emotional intensity of love and loss, the magic of fantasy and the lightness of comedy while combining grace with raw physicality. Strong in passion, Dancers Dancing reflects our contemporary world. The company tours with up to 6 dancers and offers a full and engaging repertoire for booking. More details on each piece can be found in the work section of the site.
voices in motion, bodies that sing, currently touring
Premiering at the Vancouver International Dance Fetsival in March 2009, this work will be available to tour during 2009, 2010/11 and beyond.
Originally performed live in collaboration with the Vancouver Cantata Singers, we shall tour with recorded music, unless, of course, an ambitious
choir wants sing with us in a exultant, moving and passionate celebration of the human spirit. Contact us for the music list.
The performance consists of five dances choreographed by Serge Bennathan, Judith Garay, Rob Kitsos, Anthony Morgan and Simone Orlando. It
features a new composition by Peter Hannan created especially for the work.
Voices in Motion, Bodies that Sing, is a compelling meditation on the mutually dependent relationships between the voice, the mind, the body and the heart.
the late edition tour, fall 2007/spring 2008
Audiences experienced the pure energy, elegant beauty and innovative choreography of Dancers Dancing in a new evening of
contemporary dance created by Artistic Director Judith Garay. Sourced from hundreds of photos of people as captured by mass
print media, The Late Edition reflects and magnifies our contemporary lives. Simmering with new movement ideas interpreted
by the five company dancers, it resonates with the fractured and fast-paced energy of the world in the twenty-first century.
Strong in passion and expression, Dancers Dancing is an experience for everyone who moves through life. Dancers Dancing
presented a mixed program featuring choreography by Judith Garay, including TWO, The Late Edition,
Trio of Duets, ONE, The Catwalk and Quicksilver.
The company toured throughout BC to Kitimat, Terrace, Prince Rupert, Courtenay, Vernon, Squamish, Nelson and Saltspring Island. We
also performed in Ft. Saskatchewan and Banff, AB and Yellowknife, NWT.

A full length evening of new work in five parts.
Choreography: Anik Bouvrette, Judith Garay, Santee Smith and Wen Wei Wang
Dancers Dancing commissioned Canadian choreographers Anik Bouvrette, Santee Smith and Wen Wei Wang to join Judith Garay
in exploring the universal theme of winter drawing on their own diverse backgrounds and cultural origins. A theme that speaks
to all Canadians in its many forms: climatically, metaphorically, culturally; winter is a Canadian condition and shared Canadian
experience that is explored in all its magnificence, cruelty and beauty.

the school shows
Let's work together...
Dancers Dancing has designed lecture/demonstrations for school performances that can be geared to various age groups.
These lecture/demonstrations showcase excerpts from the repertoire interspersed with dialogue from the dancers and the
Artistic Director. They are full of fun movement, dynamic and engaging. These shows are a lively and exciting introduction
to the world of contemporary dance. We endeavour to inspire students through the arts and help them learn more about contemporary dance.
Performances are 50 minutes including a talk back with the dancers.
